RODE Wireless Go | Affordable Wireless Microphone Solution

Is the Rode Wireless Go the best and most affordable wireless microphone? Read on to find out.

Whether you need a wireless microphone for YouTube videos or other video production, quality and affordability are the more important qualities of any video production equipment.

What’s In The Box?

One of the best things about Rode products is the packaging. In the box, consumers will find:

  • The receiver and transmitters
  • Two fur windshields
  • Two USB-C cables
  • One SC cable
  • One protective pouch to keep all units safe

Size (Of Wireless Mircophones) Matters

One of the reasons this wireless mic is the best audio solution for your setup is because it is exceptionally compact. You can easily use it as both a clip-on mic due to the built in microphone or a belt pack lavalier by connecting a 3.5 millimeter standard lavalier microphone in the 3.5 millimeter input in the transmitter itself.

Both units of the microphone have a clip that you can use to clip to your belt, pocket or shirt and the receiver can be placed on the cold shoe on top of the camera.

Making Connections

Use the SC cable to connect the receiver to your camera, or you may also use a Rode VXLR mini-jack adapter to connect the receiver to the Zoom H6 portable recorder to upgrade your audio setup.

Battery Life Of Wireless Microphones

This battery has a seven-hour battery life. However, the transmitter and receiver can be charged simultaneously with the USB-C cable.

Starting Up

Now turn on the receiver and the transmitter by clicking the power button on top of each unit. By default, both the receiver and transmitter are paired.

Looking at the screen of the receiver, you will be able to see the audio levels, battery life for both devices, the connection link status and the DB gain levels. On the side of the receiver, you will see a button that controls the DB levels between low, medium and high. Usually, the medium gain is the middle ground for most usage, but you will have to check depending on the voice levels of the person carrying the transmitter. You may also control the gain levels directly from your camera if it is connected to the receiver or a Zoom H6 device.

Weather Conditions

If you are outside and it is winder, this mic comes with two fur windshield pieces that will snap in the transmitter to avoid excess noise.

The Answer Is Wireless Microphones

Armed with this information, the Rode is definitely the best solution for your audio needs. It is very competitively priced and performs at a significantly high level.
